With the Navaratri festival around, devotees across India celebrate the  festival with zeal and devotion. Among the four Navratris, Chaitra and Shardiya are considered most significant. This year Shardiya Navratri is observed from Pratipada to Navami of Ashwin Shukla Paksha, dedicated to worshipping the nine forms of Maa Durga, known as Navadurgas.

Navratri is traditionally celebrated over nine days, concluding with Dussehra or Vijayadashmi. However, according to the Drik Panchang calendar, this year the festival will be extended by an extra day, beginning on September 22, 2025, and ending on October 2, 2025. The extension is due to Pitru Paksha having one less day this year, which has been added to Navratri, making the celebrations longer than usual.

Shri Sankara Mattham, Matunga, as usual celebrates the pooja with special homams both in the morning and evening. The daily homams named Ganapathy homam,Sudarshana homam,Lakshmi Kubera homams ,Dhanvantri homams and Sri Vana Durga homams etc.Satha chandi homam and Sri Vidya homam will be performed on October 1.

Shankara Mattham also kept traditional Golu at the entrance of the temple.
