Chaitra Navratri, also called Vasantha Navaratri and Ram Navami , is the second most celebrated Navaratri, named after vasanta which means spring. It is observed during the lunar month of Chaitra (March–April). The festival is devoted to goddess Durga, whose nine forms are worshipped on nine days. The festival began on March 30 and concluded on April 6 on the Ram Navami day.
In Sri Sankara Mattham, Matunga the festival is also called Sri Ramanavami utsavam began with Sri Rama moola mantra japa and homam.. There were daily homams like Sri Vidya homam,Navavarana pooja,Suvasini pooja ,Sri Rama Raksha homams , Sri Suktha homam for the benefit of devotees who can also participate during their birth star. Poornahuti and abhishekams were held on the last day.
